Help Support Our Nationally Ranked Wheelchair Athletes...

To compete on a national level in any sport requires hardwork, coaching, determination, equipment, physical conditioning and above all...financial support. We (Maryland Ravens, Inc.) ask that you strongly consider financially helping two of our premier wheelchair sports stars...

Ronnie Pulliam

Ronnie Pulliam grew up in North Carolina and was injured in a car accident that left him a paraplegic. Despite this inconvenience, Ronnie went on to college and finished with a bacherlor's degree in business and a master's degree in hospitality and tourism.

While attending Temple University, Ronnie became an accomplished wheelchair basketball player. At the helm of the Temple Rollin' Owls, he received numerous awards for his playing ability. In addition to basketball, Ronnie has become a very good handcyclist who continuously finishes within the top ten in competition around the country. His races included the New York City Marathon, Los Angeles Marathon, New York City Achilles Marathon, and many other races.

In addition to sports, Ronnie participated in a roundtable discussion with (then) President Clinton to celebrate the 5th anniversary signing of the Americans with Disability Act. His many academic awards include an acknowledgment and a proclamation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Pennsylvania Senate for being an outstanding adult student in higher education. He is a member of the Temple University Alumni Association and the Wheelchair Sports Association. He has been an affiliate of Maryland Ravens, Inc. for more than 5 years.

If you wish to help Ronnie Pulliam compete in the handcycling circuit, please make your checks payable to:

Tarek Zohdi

Tarek Zohdi was born in Cairo, Egypt. He is a victim of polio, which he contracted from a vaccination when he was nine months old. Today, Tarek has only 25 percent use of his left leg and 70 percent use of his right. Despite his physical impairment, Tarek became a top-notch athlete who first received national exposure winning gold and silver medals as a swimmer. In fact, he won three gold medals in 1995 at the Stoke-Mandeville International Games which was hosted in London.

"Swimming was my life", says Tarek. "I practiced everyday."

Currently, Tarek teaches swimming at the Eprata Recreation Center in Pennsylvania. He no longer swims competitively but has developed a new area of interest... wheelchair tennis. Initially working out with teaching professional, Wilson Pipkin and fellow wheelchair player Josh Pittinger, Tarek now works out several times a week at Temple University with coach, mentor and Maryland Ravens Vice President Tribit Green. As a result, Tarek ranks 13th in the nation in C wheelchair-tennis singles competition and 7th in C doubles.

Tarek (like other athletes that compete on the national level) needs financial sponsors. If you wish to help Tarek Zohdi compete in the tennis circuit, please make your checks payable to:
